From 26 to 28 August 2026, the University of Pisa hosted AIE7 - the 7th International Symposium on Aggregation-Induced Emission at the Polo Piagge Conference Centre.
Chaired by Professor Andrea Pucci, AIE7 welcomed 122 participants from 15 countries, confirming its role as a major international meeting for scientists working on aggregation-induced emission and related emissive phenomena. The Pisa edition also marked a special milestone: the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) concept.
The scientific programme featured 4 plenary speakers, 17 keynote speakers, 49 invited speakers, 14 oral presenters and 16 poster presenters. Contributions covered recent advances in molecular and polymeric AIE systems, condensed-phase photophysics, supramolecular assemblies and functional materials, as well as applications in optoelectronics, photonics, sensing, bioimaging, theranostics and energy-related technologies.
The symposium provided an inspiring opportunity for established scientists and early-career researchers from around the world to exchange ideas, present their latest results and establish new collaborations. It also strengthened the international visibility of the University of Pisa and its research activities in the field of functional emissive materials.
